Update - My Scribbles

The Soldier

With strength inconceivable
The tiny soldier marches on
Hoisting his prize aloft,
Determination,
Duty,
Destiny,
Complete conformity,

He trundles on
Knowing no better
Thinking no thoughts,
Acceptance,
Apathy,
Amenability,
Perfect pliability,

In line with his brethren,
A cog of thousands
Serving only his queen,
Loyalty,
Labouring,
Lading,
Utter unity,

The bliss of ignorance
The content of unheeded,
Never knowing the vastness of the world,
An exchange,
For his purpose unquestioned.

Update - My Scribbles

The Wonderings of Jack Coving
Once again, you have arrived, full of zealous to engage in my wonderings. I won’t keep you too long this time; short and sweet, I promise. I appreciate your interest in the nattering of a broken man; it is very kind of you. Please make yourself comfortable and join me, as we dive once again, into my wonderings.

It’s a Dog’s Life
It says a lot about the morals and values of society when an eleven grand reward is offered up for information regarding a tortured dog. It makes me think that priorities are somewhat askew here.

From one animal lover to another; it makes me sick to my stomach to think that somebody would be so twisted as to slit the throat of a family pet, however on the same weekend as this horrific incident; a man in his seventies was pulled from a car and beaten to within an inch of his life; his attacker got into a serious fit of road rage. Not many people had heard about this; never mind mustering the enthusiasm to catch the sick son of a bitch who flogged this poor man... More

Update - My Scribbles

The Wonderings of Jack Coving
I must admit my surprise to see you return. I thought my last rant had sent you on your way for good. How glad I am we cross paths again. Please my friend, fill your glass and make yourself comfortable, as we indulge once again, in my wonderings…

Jack Coving Presents: Where is my God?
An Atheist’s Guide to Salvation
At one point in my life, I had it all worked out. I had a wonderful wife, a promising career, a nice home and a savage car; I still have the car, but like myself, it’s been through the trenches. I dealt with the here and the now; with facts, figures and logic. I thought I was smart; much smarter than those God fearing fools. I had it all figured out. I didn’t fall into the trap of humble, wholesome religion; God never existed and never will. Who needs God when you have logic?...More

Update - My Scribbles

Indulge yourself in the first Wondering of of Jack Coving, as he relinquishes his own colourful insight on the Equal Marriage Referendum coming up on May 22nd in Ireland.

The Wonderings of Jack “Mother-Fucking” Coving

For those of you who don't know me, I am Jack, Mother-Fucking Coving:
Divorced, desolate and drunk; sitting in a tiny shoe box flat, housing only a child's sized bed, a worn hotplate and a drippy tap. I drink hard, I fuck hard, I write hard. I couldn’t tell you when I last had a shave or a vegetable that wasn’t encased in batter.

Annie, she was my first wife and is a good woman. Don’t let our divorce pit you against her, she put up with a lot; I didn’t get my name for no reason, you know. Fuck, I saw the devil himself rise inside her the day she caught her mother, Maura, and I going at it on the kitchen counter. She ran me out of the house bollock naked, Eileen next door got a good gawk and all...More

Update - My Scribbles

Getting Back to it!
Though I have remained somewhat dormant within the creative world for some time (I may have been slightly disillusioned leaving college) A recent "spiritual awakening" (In the words of the outstanding Brene Brown) has rekindled my joy, passion and confidence for storytelling. I have over the last year, been taking literally every lunch break, every evening, ever day off, every little moment to complete my first novel; which had been manifesting in my imagination for over a decade.
It is almost complete and will hopefully be the first of a trilogy of fantasy adventure epics.

For now, I have written this soul searching piece. A piece that really helped me.

Pretending
In a world of pretenders, I pretend; to fit in. I pretend; to feel accepted. I pretend; to make friends. So many years of pretending; I became lost and unknown to myself.

In a society of extroverts, the loudest thrive.

Boldness and brashness is the key to success; domination of people, title, money and power is the goal... More

Update - My Handywork

Character Paintings
I've always loved the bold, vibrant colours and style used in pop art.

Bright colours and bold outlines have always been my prefered style, when it comes to painting; mostly because I'm not much of a painter and I never really developed the skillful techniques used in blending and shading colours.

Here is a small sample of acrylic paintings I have done inspired by video game and comic book characters. I have a few more on the go, but it is slow, steady work... More
